Pipe Repair & Replacement, Done Right the First Time

Pipework is the circulatory system of your home — every tap, radiator, toilet and appliance depends on it. When a section fails through corrosion, frost damage, mechanical impact or simply old age, the right fix is a properly jointed replacement, not a clamp or a smear of sealant.

We work with copper (15mm, 22mm, 28mm), MDPE blue mains pipe, push-fit and barrier plastic, and we're equipped to safely cut out and replace older lead and galvanised steel sections. Every repair is pressure-tested before we leave.

Common jobs include repairing pinhole leaks in central heating pipework, replacing failed compression joints, re-routing pipes around extensions or new kitchens, and upgrading ageing lead or steel supply pipes to modern materials.

Symptoms That Mean Your Pipework Needs Attention

Pipework failures rarely happen overnight — there are usually warning signs months in advance. Acting early turns a quick repair into a major job and limits water damage to your home.

Lead pipework is a particular concern: it contaminates drinking water and is now banned in new installations. If your supply pipe is lead (dull grey, soft to the touch, no magnetism), we recommend a planned upgrade to MDPE before it fails.

    • Green or white staining on copper pipework indicates active corrosion
    • Damp patches on ceilings below pipework — even small ones — are slow leaks
    • Sudden drops in mains pressure can mean a buried supply pipe is leaking
    • Banging or hammering noises often indicate loose pipe clips or worn fittings
    • Low water flow at upstairs taps can be caused by furred-up old steel pipework
    • Lead supply pipes contaminate drinking water and should be replaced

    Technical Detail

    Copper Pipework

Copper remains the gold standard for central heating and hot water pipework — durable, recyclable and easily jointed by soldering or compression. We use lead-free solder and WRAS-approved fittings throughout.

    Plastic & Push-Fit

Modern barrier-plastic systems (Hep2O, Speedfit) are excellent for concealed and underfloor runs, with quick push-fit jointing and no risk of frost-bursting in mild cases. We use them where appropriate, not as a shortcut.

    Lead Pipe Replacement

Lead supply pipes between the boundary stop tap and your internal stopcock are an old standard now banned. We replace these with 25mm or 32mm MDPE, often working with the water company where the lead extends into the public highway.

    Hidden Pipework

For leaks behind walls or under floors, we use acoustic and thermal detection to pinpoint the failure before opening up. This minimises damage to plaster, tiles and floor coverings.

    Re-piping a Whole House

Full re-pipes are major works typically carried out during renovations. We plan routes carefully to minimise notching of joists, support pipework correctly to prevent noise, and pressure-test the whole system before plastering or boarding.
